The Vineyards
The vineyards of Mas Codina
The Mas Codina vineyards are located in Alt Penedès, protected by two mountain ranges that, together with their particular microclimate, make this a privileged area for the cultivation of our vines.
In addition, its exceptional climatic conditions, with an annual rainfall of 550 l/m2 , allow the cultivation of varieties of grapes that result in wines and cavas of great acceptance in the market.
Quality begins with the harvest of a healthy grape
- The vineyards destined for still wine or cava are already separated from the beginning.
- Between 30 and 45 days before the harvest, the grapes are no longer treated.
- To know exactly the harvest date, periodic checks are made on the ripeness of the grapes by carrying out analytical tests on the degree, tartaric acid, pH, a ratio of the average weight of the grain and a tasting of the grapes.
- The harvest is done manually and begins at the beginning of August with the earliest varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and continues with varieties such as Moscat, Macabeo, Syrah, Xarel·lo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our own harvest and elaboration
One of the most outstanding features of our winery is that all production comes exclusively from our farm, we do not use wine purchased outside the property. This ensures that the production of our DO Penedès Wines and our DO Cava Mas Codina Cavas is controlled and limited, and becomes a masterpiece available to anyone.
